Drakes vs. Vintique 1932 running boards

does anyone know if there is a significant difference between Drake's and Vintique's 1932 running boards regarding quality of build and fit

Of the three in question, the pattern of the rubber on the Drake boards is virtually identical to the original, whereas on the other two vary somewhat from the original.

The paint on the underside of the Drake boards has way more gloss than the originals and Bob's logo is stamped into one of the two running board supports, whereas the other two lack any permanent evidence of their origin.

The old V-8 Shop boards have all kinds of excess rubber around the top of the supports and some on the bottom of the ends that has to be removed. Sheet rubber has to be added along the top of the those boards to insulate the boards along the bottom of the chassis frame rails. The steel foundation of these boards lack the little rubber-filled holes all across the underside that the original (and Drake) boards have, but these can be fudged with liquid rubber if authenticity is important to you.

Both the Drake and V-8 Shop boards fit well. I bought a set of Vintique boards, but sent them back because of the incorrect details of the rubber pattern so I do not know how well they fit.

Which is best is largely dependent on your criteria. If they were all priced the same, the Drake boards would be the best choice by far. Unfortunately, they are not (all priced the same).

I can't comment on the Vintique boards, but I know several guys who have installed the Drake boards. These guys are particular about their parts and all say that the rubber pattern and the fit is excellent. I used some V-8 shop boards years ago and had to do some fudging to get then to fit the bottom of the frame and the contour of the frame. I thought they were a good board at the time, but they were also the only game in town unless you wanted Argentine junk. If it were me I would go with the Drake boards.
