Drake vs Mac vs Carpenter

Can't speak highly enough of C&G. No problems with Carpenter either. C& G is good for me as West Coast company with me being in the Pacific. Nice people too.

So would they put a thermostat in a shoe box to send it?

I've had that before from the states, more than once. Some companies don't seem to care how they burn up someone else's money.
I had a (Dodge Military)windscreen sent from a well known supplier in the U.S. to New Zealand. Having supplied the correct address(and paid the freight) the supplier decided to send the screen to Brisbane Australia, because they were sending other stuff to another dealer there, and they thought it was close enough.(not even the same country)
When I eventually found it, I ended up paying the air freight (again) to N.Z. Go figure.

Us foreigners are at the mercy of these suppliers. We often pay far more for the freight, than the purchase price of the item and when we strike a problem, we have to rely on the good grace of seller.

Because of this, feed back from you people is very important to us.
I'd like to think the publicity they get from the likes of this forum, has made some of them tidy up their acts.

The only dissapointment I have had so far, with Ford suppliers, is with some new headlight reflectors from Macs. They would not be good enough to be legal on the road at home.
They are a dull stainless finish. I will get some originals re silvered.

Wouldn't you know it, as soon as I start a 40 ford it seems Drakes as gone to the dogs. The lost is very big for all us v8ers. Bob Drake was always "THE 40 Ford Man". I ordered from Midwest Early ford and got the parts very fast, they were in Drakes packaging, go figure.

Bought from them all before and will again except Classic in OKC. Once ordered parts next day air (OKC to Arkansas) it took 2 days to get out of their building before being shipped NDA on my dime. Got 2 lefts or rights once for a pair, called then returned them saying one of these is labelled wrong send me the other side. You guessed it, got another one just like it with a different label. I like Oklahoma just not Classic.

I have used most of them from time to time & have to agree with Turdytoo on okla supplier. Surprised that no one mentioned Vintique but they have good stuff also, well most of it anyway. I have used their running board covers ,10 years old & still look new ,bought a 32 grille shell & insert that is fine & fits also. Baxter ford is good also.

New to early Ford Hot Rods (I just picked up a '39 Coupe) but it seems that C & G is the preferred vendor of choice from the responses that everyone has given. Thank you for the helpful information.

I purchased all the rubber seals and gaskets for my 40 coupe from Mac's trying to save a buck. After installing a couple such as the cowl vent and decklid i noticed they were too hard and these parts would not close correctly. I waited too long for a refund and they would not offer a in store credit either. I repurchased all the gaskets from Carpenter and they fit great. Therefore I will no longer use Mac's.

This is a good point on rubber products. I always try to go for Carpenter made rubber products and will often ask C&G who supplies them with rubber products when I order such an item. That said Drake does good for swing out 1/4 window rubbers for 46/48 fords. I've installed those with no problem and the rubber is pliable and not hard. Fit is good with little "chaff" around them from the molds.
