Hi guys , what size jets should I run in my Stromberg 97 carb . Its a stock A engine with a few bolt on speed parts ...ansen single intake ,header and Mallory dist . I think it's getting way to much gas . It ran good with a ford 94 carb but it wasn't mine had to give it back . I had the rebuilt 97 on the shelf and bolted it on and it ran like s..t . It sprays a good stream of gas but wile running it seems to be dumping way to much gas into the intake . It runs a lot better with the choke almost closed . Need help , Thanks guys

Not sure of what jet size you would need but if it runs better with the choke closed you are not getting enough fuel or have a vacuum leak somewhere.

Put your hand over the air horn while the car is running, chock off, if the the engine smooths out(sneak up on it)you either have an air leak, idle screws or ports are maladjusted or plugged, or the float level is low. If it dies you have too much fuel, float level high, to big a jet. Dudley

Jere Jobe of vintage carburation technologies set up my 97 with a .065 power valve and a .045 in the main jet. He sets them up on the bench and then runs them on an engine to check the air flow. Leslie
