dovetail bumper?

I am attempting to install the bumper, consisting of two pieces of rubber and a copper? piece, which contacts the dovetail. Has anyone found a way to do this. I can get the rubbers in, but am stuck on the metal.

i took a flathead screw driver and tapped each end of the copper into the door..
you are aware the repo rubbers need to be trimmed to fit properly...
i reuse those if possible

Like Mitch said be sure the rubber is the right shape.
