doors won't close

I have a 1931 roadster in excellent condition except that the doors are increasingly difficult to close. In speaking to those with some knowledge about roadsters, I'm informed that the bodies tend to spread outward over the years and the door condition then becomes apparent due to misalignment. I was also informed that the body could be pulled in from both sides to realign the doors. One person stated that they used shipping straps wrapped around the body and simply tightened them until reaching the desired alignment. My question is if this is actually possible to do and if anyone has actually done it or know of it.

I had one do the same thing and after talking to the owner(i gave up TRYING TO MAKE it fit) he informed me he had some one weld up the cracks in the rear right side and the wood he had put back in so you could not see it. I removed the wood cut the weld got it back to the right diam. and the door worked fine. If possible take some measurment from one that works good and compair. good luck
