Door wood replacement instructions

Working on a 1929 Murray body Town Sedan (155A).
The car was apart for 30+ years and the two rear doors were in a shed that got wet and had termites. The wood in both doors is shot.
The top finger joints are held together with wood screws from the metal side , which tells me that they must have put the top in first and worked their way down to the bottom. The bottom wood screws are placed from inside.

Looking for information, instructions, or what ever on door wood installs.

Thanks,
Ed

Hi Ed,

If all else fails, maybe try calling Model A parts supplier "Owners" to ask:

1. If instructions come with wood door kits; and/or,

2. Names, addresses, & phone #'s of wood suppliers that may part with instructions.

Hope this helps.

Two things Ed. Are you part of the TownSedan Group? Dan Gambill (townsedanclub@hotmail.com) puts out some really nice info on these cars. And two, try these guys, 'Brothers A Wood'-Steve 480-620-3263 or Brian-480-748-9591. Dan had a little video about them at the National. They might be able to help.

I made my wood for my doors in my 30 Briggs T.S. (See my profile and photos under "My 30 TS) I, too, found that instructions were rarer then hen's teeth. I had purchased some of the wood that was too far gone to use as a pattern and was rather confused about some of it. Good Luck!

Maybe Brent T will post on this, he has done several. I did one 30 years ago.
The wood was put in before the door skin was crimped on the jamb frames and wood. Therefore, it aint easy unless you take the complete skin off and start from there.
Brent may have some "tricks of the trade" that I was not privy too or ingenious enough when I did the one. 68B doors are much the same as described above.
