Door window installation

I am working on a 1939 Tudor. I have removed the door window and replaced the window channels and felts. Looking for advice on replacing the window. Must the window be installed with the regulator in place, or can the window be installed on the regulator at the bottom of the door and then move the assembly (window and regulator) up into place? If the window must be installed with the regulator in place, any tips for installation of the window into the regulator channel?

I have to replace the glass on my 35, so I'd like a tutorial too. Let's bump this to the top.

These instructions from Ford V-8 Cars and Trucks, by Victor W. Page, may help:

I wanted to give my feedback after accomplishing the installation of my door glass.
I already had removed the interior door card (cover) and the regulator. Before removing the regulator, I would recommend marking the screw positions on the door frame, as this will align the window to the original position of the window.

1) Place the regulator at bottom of the door.
2) Insert the window into the door, front end first and then into the window channels, use duct tape to hold the window above the regulator.
3) Crank the regulator to its uppermost position.
4) Insert the spring loaded guides on the regulator into the window runners (this is much easier in this configuration rather than with the regulator installed.
5) Then move the assembly (window and regulator) into its final position and install the regulator screws.

Just my experience.
