Door Upholstery Trim (open vehicle)

I am having a heck of a time installing the door upholstery trim pieces (repro) to my door panels. Since the original embossed cardboard panels are no longer available, I am using the plain board covered (professional vendor) with vinyl. As a result, I suspect these panels are a bit thicker than the original cardboard. During an earlier post/thread, I was informed that the reproduction trim is not as thick as the originals. Anyone have original trim available (or knows of a source)? Since mine is early, do not need the 'dovetail' trim (only the pieces shown in illustration).

Charles,

I don't know of a source for anything closer to original than what you already have. The door latch oval is very close to the original and you shouldn't have much problem using them. For our Phaeton, I did not have a complete set for a while, and recall being satisfied that I could use a mix of original and repro ovals without a problem. I finally got a full set. Sorry, I don't recall comparing the other pieces to originals, since I had a full set. I wish you had spoken up months ago, as I sold on e-bay, several original inside door panels with those trim pieces attached.
Have you asked Bill Sturm if he has any originals he could sell to you?
You may also consider putting out want ads for old door panels that people have replaced with repro. There's got to be a bunch of original trim pieces laying around on old door panels.

thanks, as always ... as they say "a day late ... a dollar short." (maybe that's just an old Okla. saying). i did put an ad on FB a few weeks ago but no response.

I would appreciate hearing from anyone with extra originals ...
