Door Panel Trim

Seeking tips on installing metal trim strips to door panels. The channel along the edge seems self explanatory. However, am stumped on the trim around the door latch handle (’28 open vehicle). The little ‘legs’ seem to only extend the thickness of the panel itself (i.e. nothing to bend over the back side). Were these simply a slip fit to the hole and keep in place by pressure from the latch handle?

The "legs" are actually tabs that are GENTLY bent to secure the piece to the panel. They are prone to snap so use caution.

Unfortunately the repro parts aren't the size and quality of original parts. The curved parts you have pictured don't have as wide a griping edge as original parts, so getting them to stay in place is a trick that I don't have an answer to, other than try some kind of good glue or epoxy.
