I have had difficulty removing the lock assemblies from both doors of my '29 Sport Coupe. The extension on the lock plate didn't want to pass the door skin where it is folded around the main door frame. I feel the lock assembly must have been fitted before the door skin. The only solution I can think of is to grind off a small amount of this extension. Is this usual, or is there another way? The extension appears to serve no purpose except to make it difficult to fit the lock. Can anyone enlighten me, please?

Mine also hits the edge. I wonder how the factor did it? Many people have had the same problem.
