Door Latch Springs

Guys,

I had a weak door latch spring on my 35 coupe so I bought a Repro from Drake. The spring was made wrong so I had to bend it to fit. The metal was weak and didn't bend like normal spring steel. Now I have a semi-weak latch. I'm not happy withy it. Anyone making good spring steel springs for door latches or shall I try and find one NOS?

Thanks,

Peder

I got mine from C and G for my 33,they work great, did you get the correct ones, I think they are colour coded.

When I was looking for NOS latches for my conv sedan I found many closed car ones ---cheap, some for less than the repro springs, --search some on e-bay, the open car latches go for $$ and get bids, but it seems that the closed car ones are forgotten ---I guess most people just put up with the drooping handles, and weak latches

I also saw many ads for springs, many of the latches are the same, just the flat rod is a different length, the front and rear doors have much the same latch

I may be way off on this but were the springs different colors to I D them?
If so what Color is yours. I May have the correct one.
Post here so others can learn then I will PM you so we can continue.

Bill-

It is my understanding that the color on the spring is not any sort of standardized indicator. The color is used to match a color chart supplied by the manufacturer of the springs they produce, nothing more.

For those who need a spring, I have a modest pile of NOS springs but I need a tracing or the actual spring to match.
