I have removed the two screws holding the exterior passager side door handle in and attempt to remove it. Hoowever the handle does not simple come off. Any secrets or suggestions on how to remove it. Thanks in advance.

YES;

Rotate the handle as if you were opening the door and then pull out toward you. You may have to jiggle it a bit as you pull it out but it should come out. The latch is made so you can only install and remove the outside handles while they are in the "Open" position.

Ford did this so, if the car was locked, someone could not just remove the screws and pull the handle out of the door, then use a screwdriver or some other tool to open the door. Very clever but simple. You have to have things unlocked before you can remove the handles.

My understanding,

Goes back the same way. Press in the latch to eliminate the spring pressure as you reinstall the handle, or to remove. Use care to avoid chippng paint. Try the blue masking tape first to protect the area. Bob

When I put new spring kits in my original 29 Tudor latches, I had a tough time getting them back in. Just glad I didn't have to worry about the paint job. Someday I will have to study this a bit closer, because it just seemed to be too tight to be Ford's idea, but maybe it was? :confused:
