Door Handle Removal

I have read on here that to remove the door handle on my 1931 Model A coupe it says turn handle 1/8 th turn counter clockwise. My handles won't turn counterclockwise wise. What do I do?

Turn the handle in the normal direction, as though you were going to open the door. Turn it 1/8 turn, and wiggle the handle as you pull. You must remove the 2 screws for the handle first, of course.
