Door check straps / 1936 open car

Anyone have a good source for these ? Looking for the stiffer ones versus the noodles which seem to be the general offering these days. Thank you.

You need to find originals.The repops are junk.

Vintique's are stiffer than Drake's. But not likely enough. For a work-around consider a light spring (similar to a throttle return spring) to maintain tension to retract the strap. Works on our fiberglass bodies.

Tried Vintique's also. Not much better as Drakes IMO.Besides that they don't slide in the slot of the door jamb because they have a sharp squared off edge,they stretch big time when you open the door.

Maybe have a set made from leather ?

Not stiff enough,IMO.Trouble is if not stiff they don't slide and fold into the door jamb when you shut the door.Try South Side Obsolete in MN.He might have some.All Ford in Campbell,CA, maybe
