Door and Hood Fit

Hello Ford Barn-ers.
I am restoring a closed cab 30 Pick-up. It is now time to get the door fit and hood alignment done, before going out for paint. This being my first resto, I have 0% experience with this kind of thing. I understand the principle of the technique using shims on the chassis and all, but was wondering if anyone with more experience can guide me through.
Better yet, anyone in the Central Jersey area that may have a day to swing by my garage and walk me through it. I'll do all of the wrenching, of course. I know the doors never fit perfect from the start, and it is not going to be a concourse truck. But, if I can get it done right, all of the better.
Thank you for your time. Sarge

I have found it best to start at the radiator and work back. On my 30 pickup I had to go back and forth several times, making small adjustments with shims and tightening gradually until things lined up. It helps immensely if your frame has been straightened (mine hadn't been). My 29 Tudor was easier. There is a lot that is done right at the radiator itself to get the hood right. Your back hood support is also an important point. There is a good article on the hood part in "How to Restore Your Model A, Vol. 2," from MAFCA.
