How do I remove the dome light from the Headliner, I tried to put a screwdriver under the edge but it wouldnt budge, does someone in the "Barn" have any ideas of removing this ??? Thanks Barners

There is a snap ring holding the lens in the body. Remove the snap ring and lens and there will be screws holding the body to the roof wood.

Remove snap ring with an awl then the lens comes out. There should be 3 screws that hold the housing to the wood frame.

D(AL), there is in fact a snap ring that is holding the lens in the chrome light frame. The snap ring can be removed by carefully using a small blade straight screwdriver. The ring is almost hidden inside the chrome ring. A word of caution, be sure to have someone helping you, or place a thick cushioning cloth like a blanket underneath the light fixture when you remove the lens. When it does come out of the frame it is in, it is alsmost impossible to catch it before it falls to the floor narrow and breaks the lens! Then there are two screws holding the light frame itself on the wooden supports in the top of the car.I hope this will help you! Tom Byrd

They are the same style as found in 48-52 f1 panel trucks but different glass lens. I had one where the snap ring was rusted to the outer chrome base. I kept spraying it with PB Blaster and used a pick to get under the end of the ring and work it out. Saved the glass (not reproduced) and with a new snap ring (is reproduced) it will be good to go.

Hi Guys... Thanks so much for your replies , I will remove the Dome light VERY carefully putting lots of cushioning below, just in case... Thanks Barners, you have come thru again to my rescue... cheers... Dale ..
