Does anyone tow a single wheel trailer behind their Model A?

Not mine, but someone had one at a tour I went on.

I wouldn't mount it like that. You have an increased bending moment on the bumper arms. Attached to where the cross brace attaches I think would be better..

It would be interesting to see how the trailer wheel is mounted. Swivel? Spring loaded?

Pretty standard mounting style.

I do not know where WYankee got his parts but here is one company that may help:

crystalwelding.com/360-swivel-axle/

Update: The company sells swivel wheels. There are two wheels for one swivel and it turns 360 degrees. The company shows two sets of swivels at the rear of a trailer. That would double the carrying capacity of the trailer if the hitch system was good enough.

Your picture shows it mounted differently than it's mounted on the Model A picture. The Model A pictures shows it mounted on the bumper "wings" probably 6 inches off of the actual bumper bracket that attaches to the car, hence the sideways bending moment, in the weaker direction of the bumper bracket.

i don't think there is too much of an issue with it as long as he is not hauling too much of a load. on a car that had a solid full bumper or a tie bar across it would be better / stonger) there is more pressure or twist on the outer wing of the bumper bracket but the trailer will tilt with the car, that is why it only has one wheel. like a wheel barrow.

this would Not work on a single axle two wheeled trailer.

The trailer I have is an original Allstate one wheel trailer frame and wheel assembly, I built the wood box for it and machined pieces to attach it to the bumper brackets.
The total gvwr for the trailer is 750 pounds and the brackets are not showing any signs of stress.
These trailers need to be lower in the front so as not to induce a wobble.
I am unavailable to take any pictures at the moment but will if needed.
