Do you carry a fire extinguisher?

Yes, right behind my head, on the shelf of my coupe. I will die from a head injury, but at least someone else will be able to put out the fire and save the "A" (Maybe I should slide it to the passengers side, you think the wife will notice I took.more insurance out on her?)

HALON TYPE BUT CANT REMEMBER WHAT ITS CALLED NOW .It wont damage inside of motor like dry chemical will and screw all the insides up. have fun modelAtony tony white Lafayette, LA

I have one in every vehicle I have ever owned ,and have used them 2 times on other peoples cars. I keep one in my Tudor in my tool box( old large doctors bag) behind the driver seat.

I have a 2.5 lb Dry Chemical mounted to the shelf under the always dropped convertible top where it can be grabbed but won't fly forward, and a fairly large CO2 Fire Extinguisher in the Rumble compartment where it can be easily reached. I learned decades ago from Coast Guard / Boating experience to not put one in a place where a fire MIGHT LIKELY BE, which would be near the gasoline turn off valve in the passenger kick panel / knee well.

Thanks CarlG, Been so use to calling it Halon, couldn't remember the new word. All my fireman buddies keep calling me down . I've always thought you have a really nice PICK UP. For all others I keep my extinguisher between the seats in the tudor and under the seat in my 29 roadster. have fun modelAtony tony white Lafayette, LA

Yes. I used to keep it under the seat until I needed it to put out a friend's car fire and discovered that it was hard to reach. Now I secure it to the package shelf in both cars, where I can grab it in a second.

Yes, Halon, in a leather sling held in place by the seat ---ready to grab, nothing in the way to move to gain acess

No, but I have several in the garage. Why not? In 60 years of driving I have never had to use one, and they do not survive in our cold climate.

But I do like Tom Wesenberg's solution. I think I will adopt it, more fore the water than for the extinguisher.

Yes I do, but if it catches fire I ain't puttin it out. I get to much flack about white walls, green fenders, oil and the transmission I got in it, best just let it burn:D

Its called Halon 1211. It is carried aboard aircraft because it is non corrosive and less harmful if you have to discharge it in a relatively enclosed area. That would be my choice for the Model A also.
