Do I have an Original Fuel Filter?

I recently disassembled my fuel filter assenbly and found the brass screen was sandwiched between to very thin cork gaskets. The top of the glass bowl is smooth and flat. The bowl seals against one gasket and the housing against the other squeezing the screen between them.
I've been told this is wrrong and not the way Henry did it. To be original there should an inner depression in the top of the filter bowl into which the screen fits. Then only one cork gasket that seals the outer top of the filter bowl to the housing. The screen just "floats" in the depression at the top of the bowl.
Since Henry often did things different ways, can my double gasket smooth filter bowl assembly be an A original or must it have the glass bowl with a depression for the screen? Thanks for the help.

The depression is in the housing not the glass bowl. The hole in the center of the screen should fit some what tight around the projection in the body. Too many gaskets will move the screen down allowing the bits of crud to travel up and over the screen cutting down on it's usefulness.
If it works and there is no depression for the screen in the housing, leave it and don't tell anyone. Look closer at the body of the filter, bet there is a depression most all have one even aftermarket.
