Ditzler REDUCER Question

I've forgotten the reduction instructions. Seems like 3 parts reducer to 4 parts color and 1/2 part activator (if you can find it). So you have not quite 2 quarts sprayable. That's enough for 2 coats (I hope)
but cutting it close for 4 fenders, tops only.

Don S, look into that PPG industrial line I mentioned. It's alkyd enamel. You could apply a compatible black 1st, then use your old paint for the final coat to avoid a mismatch if that's a concern.

It may seem funny to mention mismatch about black. Trust me, there's a lot of different blacks. Some are brown-tone, some are blue, some grey. Take a small amount and thin it down like 200%, then rub it on chunk of white paper or cardboard. Where it's transparent you'll note the base used. Lacquers and old enamels from Ditzler were usually brown-black, DuPont lacquer used to be blue-black, urethanes can go grey or brown depending on the formula. Just sayin...

Re:old paint

heres an unopened can of paint that's still liquid.

theHighlander, thanks for the info on the industrial PPG. Mine has the Ditzco DQE 9000 id on it,they should be able to cross referance it I would hope.

I just google'd Ditzco and found out that #9000 black was used on 1985 Fords. That is when my car was painted.
