Distributors Cooling Fans and confussion

I scored a partially disassembled 1939 flathead with 59AB heads. From what I have read on VanPelts site, it lists it as an 81A. So I am guessing that someone has changed heads on it. From pictures, I have to guess that the cooling fan is mounted directly to the crankshaft. Was there a pulley that could be bolted to it and the fan relocated to above the distributor like the later flatheads.
Also, what is a good book that shows me how to rebuild the two cap tall coil distributer?

The 39 car deluze had the fan on the crank pulley, the 39 std. had the fan on the front of the gen. I believe the 39 pickup had the fan on the gen. Not sure. Walt

39 pickup is the same as 39 std. You could use a 59A fan group and pulley. What vehicle are you putting this in?

That is a hard question to answer, I am taking many miscellaneous parts mostly 30 to 40 parts that I have been gathering, to I would call a speedster, but inspired on the Edsel speedsters and a Talbot T-120 that had custom work done by “Brandone.” I have been working hard to gather certain parts that will aid the vintage look yet still have form and function. I have chosen to cheat on a few points for means of safety. I had started out with an 8BA block but it is taking me almost a year to free up the valve assembly. Which in no closer to being removed then the day I started, and I have tried every concoction short of getting a torch and cutting the stems and beating them out. This pre-war is something that I recently acquired as a replacement to the 8BA. I would love to have an original 32, but that’s is far from possible. So I guess I am left to make my own.

Well here it is!!! finaly got a stand under it so that i can start getting it broke loose.
