Distributor timing fixture

Is there an adaptor that connects the distributor to the fixture for the two bolt distributor? When I set the 2-bolt distributor on the fixture, it just spins. The bottom of the distributor appears to be about 1/2 inch above the slot. Will the adaptor that extends the camshaft for the later distributors (shown in the Mac's catalog part number 11A-6280) work? Thanks, Ed

you have to acurately turn down the od of the adaptor to 1.250 to fit in the housing bore but it will work

There is another KRW part that fits onto the top of what you have. It mounts to the 3 sutds, and has its own 2 studs for the 1942-48 distributors. Along with that part is the small button adapter sold by MAC'S. You definitely need the important missing piece though.

Mac, that piece is on the fixture. Here's a pic with the two parts. Do you carry that button adapter? Ed

From memory, I think the fixture adaptor assembly is somewhat thicker than the on-car cam difference and so the spacer button is thicker than the normal one. Probably the normal button will be thick enough to fit with the regular spacer.

This is what is needed to complete the distributor tester. The button pinches between the plates and fills the gap for the 42-8 style distributor. The 11a button is to big for the adapter I have turned some down for repairing KRW tools missing this part.

OK....for all interested in this subject. Save this PIC! I compared both pieces. In the pic, all on the right hand side are the KRW part. All on the left are the 11A adapter. The diameter on the KRW part is a hair under 1.250". The diameter on the 11A part is a hair under 1.375". Sorry but I don't have my micrometer here today. Beside turning down the OD, I believe you would have to grind some meat off the bottom of the 11A adapter but it APPEARS doable. Knowing how hard the KRW parts are to find, I would say this is a good substitute unless you want to carve a part from scratch yourself.

We sell the 11A-6280 adapter for $14.00.

Thanks guys for the great response to this question. Mac, that was the comparison that I was looking for. Ed
