Hi too all at (FORD BARN) I have a question i need help on. I have a distributor tester that was used on flat head V/8's, that looks similar to the K.R. Wilson. This unit has a bulb which has been broken mounted on the front edge of it also a wire coming off the front edge that has a clip on the end of it. I see no place for a battery to work the bulb, i see no name on this unit anywhere who made it. I would post photos but i dont how. If someone would be kind enough to email me i will email you back with photos so you can see what this unit looks like. My email addesss is hotralston@att.net I will appreciate all help you can give me.

Thanks

I've never seen one like it. Will add it to the file, and hope someone can provide some information.

I have a similar [not identical] one to that which is a 'Vane'. Possibly, the illustrated one is an earlier version? Mine is the same design, same knob and pointer, but different face. Brian

In fact, it would be great if anyone else who has an odd distributor fixture would post a picture ... or forward it to Lanny or me to post.

A while back a barner from Buenos Aires, "harylufa", was trying to figure out this device. Had a good time ... translating Spanish/English and vice-versa into Ford!

Here's a rare distributor machine:

There must have been a good number of designs to compete with the KR Wilson and that hopefully have not been lost/tossed. Some of us foolishly are fascinated with distributor gadgets.

Hello FlatheadTed, I have a question about the red Distributor Tester with box you posted a picture of. What is the manufactured name on this unit, and where does the other wire with clip go. I know the one comes off of the lamp. Did this come with information of instructions how to use this tester. All help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Randall

HARYLUFA, glad to see you are still lurking on Fordbarn. Que bueno!

(Ed, I have no idea of the origin of Harylufa's machine, but have been tempted to go to Argentina and try to find one for myself. Maybe he has found a name plate or some other identification on it. It does show that there were probably many different manufacturers not only in the US but also in other Ford markets around the world. Ted has a nice collection ... and he's in New Zealand which would seem to make them harder to find. Not so.)

I often see posts from guys looking for instructions on how to use KR Wilson type fixtures. However, once you understand what you are trying to do, the procedure is easy. And, no instructions are more confusing than the original KR Wilson ones.

Great post. Hope others will continue to add.

I'm sure it is a WASCO I have one just like it. Mine has a gold stick-on label that says it was made in Essex Ontario Canada.
