Distributor question

Hi
I have a 1932 V8 and I want to replace a plug wire. What is the best way to separate the inner and outer distributor caps?
Thanks

In all but the very earliest '32 V8s, there is post that is a molded-in part of the outer distributor cap that corresponds to a hole in the inner cap. There was a rubber O ring placed on the end of that post to hold the inner and outer caps together. Remove the O ring and the two caps come apart readily.

(The very earliest '32 V8 outer distributor caps had no molded-in posts and the inner caps had no hole in them to accept the posts of the outer caps.)

AND "sometimes" the plate and the cap can be stuck together given the length of time they have been together AND the exposure to the normal elements of time between the two mating surfaces.....SO you sometimes have to grab the plate (the 4 terminal ends) and wiggle them while holding the outlet end of the cap!!!!
