Distributor help.

hello,

We just got a 31 Vicky and it backfires a lot. Started checking everything and I have found that there is juice at the positive side of the coil constantly. points open or closed. I took the plate out and cant seem to find a short anywhere.
It is a Nu Rex plate setup.
Any ideas?

On a positive ground system the negative - side of the coil should have power all the time. The ignition switch controls the ground + side of the system.

I am sorry guys been fight a cold. It has been converted and I didn't take that into thought.

check the wire in the steel cable running from the switch to the distributer, it shorts out sometimes. I had that trouble and took me forever to find it.
