Distributor Cam

I recently bought a Model B distributor cam from Bratton's since it is the only one they sell to replace my Model A distributor cam. The Model A cam was probably ok but decided to upgrade all parts in distributor. I notice it is difficult to get the points (modern points) adjusted so the tab rides to the bottom of the valley's and as a result there is a gap when it rides over the valleys. Not sure what effect this has on the timing. Anyone experienced this?

Set points @ .018-.022 and forget it. Rubbing block is not designed to follow the entirety of the "VALLEYS."
