Disc/Drum brake question

I am planning on using a disc brake system on the front of my 40 PU. I was planning on using the original type Lockheed drum brakes on the rear. Will this work properly?
I need some advice.

That's what I have, works great. I did not use a proportion valve. Be sure to check wheel clearance between the front disc setup and the front wheel. I bought a "kit" from speedway and was told I needed 78 F150 2WD wheels to clear everything. After I bought a set of wheels (15") I found the original 16s cleared fine ! So I have a set of junk yard wheels I don't need...:(

The front brakes do most of the "stopping" but if you can change the rear to Bendix style brakes or also install rear disc brakes you would really "stop on a dime." Talk to Richard V8 here on Fordbarn.

That's what I would really like to do-----but I was thinking about Fab time. But, I have plenty of time anyway.

X2 on 41LjH's comment. Speedway kit in front stock rears with a 69-70 Chevy C20 dual MC (1 1/8") no proportioning valve. Some guys I know run the stock MC. 15" smoothies on all 4 corners. 215-75s front 235-75s rear. Works fine. Fronts act first when tested on a dirt road.
