this camshaft has the cross drilled center journal.

the grooved camshafts probably are a better

way to go, but we'll see.

there's is one hole in the last (rear ) journal.

camshaft must also be gundrilled to oil last block bearing.

another passage to clean out, oh boy!:)

hope i can find an engine cleaning brush that long!:)

have a nice day!

I use gun cleaners in the oil galleys. .22 for the small holes, 410 for the main galley. Then lots of air to make sure the small chunks are gone. Be sure to remove the metal plate the oil filter mounts to, engines have been lost to the crud that hids there.

street dreams

sounds like you've run across one of

those y block oiling diagrams.

y block is side oiler but later side oilers like

FE have ONE exit hole for the oil from the cam area.

y block has two, one for each head.

i'm surprised this '64 has a cross drilled camshaft.

it does have a flat #3 camshaft bearing, that's

figuring a grooved camshaft had a matching grooved bearing.

anybody else seen early camshafts in late y blocks?

have a good one!
