Disassemble steering column

I have my 51 truck steering column out of my truck. The steering box is off of the column and I am working on rebuilding it. I wanted to disassemble the steering column to repaint it and replace any parts if needed.

I cannot find any instructions for this procedure. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Can you clarify what you are wanting to accomplish a little. The column is a hollow tube and you had to remove all of the steering wheel and horn parts to remove the steering shaft. Also, are we taking truck or pickup?

If you have the column disconnected from the box and shaft, to me there is only one thing left to remove if still attached and that's the column drop which can be slid off by removing a long pinch bolt.
Other than that your question is confusing.

Near the shift handle are two pins 180 degrees apart that must be punched in with a similar sized punch. Once they are in enough you can pull the lever out. On the bottom end are two bolts that attach it to the column. If I remember correctly there are pins that have to come out for the shift levers to come off. The shift tube will slide off the column. Hope it helps you.
