Arrrgh, I have tried 2 different aftermarket dimmer switches, each seem to not work or fail after a short amount of use. Anyone had good luck with one that they would recommend?

thanks in advance.

I believe in my 40 the switch is in the correct position BUT there's no way I can get my 10 1/2's on to it..................

Paul, What do you mean by when you say there's "no way I can get my 10 1/2's on to it.................."?

For the record regarding location of the dimmer switch hole:

The dimmer switch on my early model year '41 is lower on the floorboard; slightly below the clutch pedal hole. When I bought a replacement floorboard advertised to fit '41 to '48, the unit I received had the dimmer hole much higher up on the floorboard. I recall that from the '48 I owned 60 years ago as being correct position for that car. The wiring for the dimmer on my '41 would not reach far enough, so I cut a hole lower in the floorboard. That location is easier to reach but also subject to inadvertent activation.
