i was reading les andrews book...troubleshooting,ect. in it on page 2-44 it states; 3 different torq tube configurations were used on the model a two were straight within 1 1/2 ft fron u joint the third was tapered all the way...im familiar with the tapered one... are there records or charts to show what models , or years the changes were implimented ?.....what years apply to what taper on the torq tube ...never saw a discussion on this in the few years ive followed ford barn , and now own 2 model a :cool:fords.......thanks for any info, knowledge, input , even wives tales of what youve heard would be neat , and appreciated/////thanks ....kev

First to May 1928, short 2" dia straight section behind the ujoint forging followed by a 12" taper section

Second had 14" tapered section directly behind the ujoint forging. March 1928 thru 1931

Third was tapered over its entire length. June 1931 til end

Per Judging Stds

Looks like some overlapped as usual

Rusty,

In my 2011 revision,..
The 3rd was used from the beginning of 1928 till the end and was used with the
1st or 2nd as an alternate TT.

Hey D.J.

Dble checked my JS and I show as I posted. Thats quite a revision of the standards. HOWEVER. I'm using my old 1989 copy. Guess it's time to spring for the current edition. My apologies to Kevinmac if I misled in any way.
