Difference-39 1/2 ton VS 3/4 ton Grill

What is the difference between a 38-39 -1/2 ton and a 38-39 -3/4 ton complete grill shell assemble, besides the side panels that connect to the fenders--is the rest of the grill same as half ton---I am doing a 38 half ton pick-up and can buy a 39 -3/4 ton grill --what parts can be used.--
looking for parts or complete shell--Thanks--can pm me with answers or pictures

Except for the side panels, the grills should be the same. My 38 has the grill from a 38 oil delivery truck that I found in the junkyard. It was in much better shape than the grill I had.

The 38 and 39 grills are not the same as each other but will fit the same size hole. If you want to build your 38 as a 38, the 39 grill is not the same and you will have to find a 38 grill. The inner grill panels are the same for both years as is the support across the back of the grill and the grill surround stainless. The center stainless is not the same in 38 and 39. The hood latch piece that attaches to the grill is not the same in 38 and 39.

The 38 and 39 side panels are not the same either; the 38's have sharp ribs matching the ribs in the 38 grille, while the 39 side ribs are rounded matching the 39 grille. The attaching hardware is different also.
