Differances between coupe and roadster Model A seats ????

I have a ModelA roadster someone put a van seat in and I'd like to put a stock seat back in. I'm having trouble finding a roadster seat and I know of a coupe seat locally. What are the major differences? Will a coupe seat fit in a roadster?
Thanks!

You didn't state what year model A roadster you have. I have both a 28 roadster and 28 coupe. The seats (cushion and backrest) are TOTALLY different. The shape is different and the coupe's seat cushion springs have a wood frame under them, where as the roadster doesn't. The roadster has a flange around the parameter that holds the seat cushion in place. I would stick to a real roadster seat set of springs and make life easier on yourself.

The roadster has a metal seat frame built into the floor. The bottom springs sit down into the roadster seat pan. The back of a roadster seat is seperate from the bottom and mounts to the package tray

A coupe has a more flat seat area and the bottom of the seat is flat wood. The coupe bottom cushion can be removed and there is still a wooden seat frame base, with a padded back attached, and seat frame sides.

I believe the coupe seat is narrower than a roadster seat. Does it fit drop in same? No. Can it be made to fit? Yeah. Since you say your roadster has a Van seat in it now, I'm assuming that you don't have the stock seat pan in your roadster, so probably the coupe seat will work fine for you.

Did you ever get this question resolved? I'm in the same situation - have access to '31 Coupe seats, including rumble but needing it for a '31 Roadster. It's quite a drive to buy them and don't want to just add a lot more work than i alrady have.

Thanks,

I took the cusions out of a 31 seat frame and put them in a 1931 roadster once to try it out. The cushions caved into the roadster seat riser on the bottom, and weren't tall enough on the back or wide enough. Big gap either side of the back seat cushion that you could hand a toilet paper roll back to the rumble seat either side of the coupe seat cushion.

So, They aren't the same at all. Can it be made to work? Sure. Anything can be made to work, but it's not the correct seat.
