Did Some Painting Today

Looks really nice on my screen, I only have one suggestion, that is unless you really can lay down a perfect top coat, which most people can't, you should put on more than 3 coats so it can be wet sanded and buffed so you too can look like a pro. carry on

Thanks. I will wet sand and buff as I have in the past. I also wet sanded the primer which also helps avoid orange peel or cutting through the topcoat.

I have never wet sanded the primer/sealer, but I can see how that would improve the results. For Mr socalcoupe, Its less work than all the prep that was done to get the paint on, and quite pleasant actually when each section is done and you can see the difference between straight out of the gun, and wet sanded and buffed. Puts a big smile on your face for the first time after all the previous work !

Looks great, especially compared to mine, but shouldn't the light refelcetions be more crisp and not blurred?

It looks blurred because you're seeing the reflections off of the plastic walls of the paint booth which are not straight or clear.

I think I'm done with the painting. I painted the wheels, the bed strips, the bolt heads and did some touch-ups. I spun each bolt in my lathe to get a nice smooth head. A couple of seconds with the angle grinder and sanding disk and then some sandpaper and the letters and zinc finish are gone. There are 56 bed strip bolts, 24 rear fender bolts and 12 hinge bolts.

Very Nice work! I like the painting part of the projects too! Looks like you have turned the corner. Hope you complete many more also.
Regards,
Chris

Lug nut contact surface needs to be clean, or wheels can loosen over time. Especially powder coated wheels. I notch cut an old lug nut on a 1/2" shaft and with a drill, it cleaned that tapered contact surface. Newc

Good to know. Will do. Thanks.

I am sure your better half will love her pink truck . Nice job laying the smooth paint down though.

I think that the Eagle has a camera issue. When my wife got her first iPhone, all of her pictures had a green tint. We went back to Apple and asked about the problem. They took off the lime green case that she had bought and that was it. I was able to get Eagle's pix to look a bit more like vermillion by down loading them, playing with the colors, saving them and reposting them. (Look at posts #15 and #17 above.)
