Did I put my hinges on backwards?

Working on my 39 truck and I am up to fitting the hood sides. (See pic) why is this like it is? Are my hinges on the wrong way?

It is a bit hard to tell from the direct front view, but I think so. The pointy end of the hinge with the shorter arm goes toward the back of the vehicle.

The little arm is to the rear but why is the mounting tab for the hood side pointing the wrong way? (I posted a better picture) I am now searching the internet for a picture that shows how this fits together

Don't know if its "correct" but my '38 has a sort of "Z" shaped bracket that connects the hinge to the side panel.
