diamond block configurations?

Were all diamond blocks the same? I.E. model A with no fuel pump, and a oil return pipe, or were they a B style block, with no oil return pipe and the wider valve cover. What about cranks, were they A style, B style, or counter balanced, or combinations? Thanks Chuck

Diamond blocks come in both A & B configurations. I don't believe any Diamond B blocks came with non-counterbalanced cranks.

Thanks George.I picked up a 37 block the other day, configured like an A. I haven't had time to put it on a stand and pull the pan yet. I'm very curious as to whats in there! Chuck

Here on the West Coast you run into Diamond A blocks frequently stamped with RF---- or LB---; the RF = Richmond Ford and LB=Long Beach Ford. The block will have hard seats in the exhaust, a good A crankshaft (non counterbalanced), and when new, a new C camshaft was installed. These were replacement engines built by Ford after l932 ?

My Diamond Block is definitely an "A", does not have hard valve seats and has a non counterbalanced crank. My 31PU came from southern California. Haven't had the camshaft where I could determine what exactly it is. (I've only had my rig less than a year, still learning all sorts of things about it.)

My diamond A block is the same and has a B cam, as it has the fuel pump lobe.
