Dialing in a Weber - need help

The Weber carburetor has been rebuilt by Earnest Carb in El Monte to another Model A. Idle seems to be okay, but we will make sure the timing is right first.

When you give it gas, it hesitates and wants to stall. Eventually, it does stall.

It has an Arizona Ford fuel pump, a fuel restrict valve, and gas is flowing.

Any ideas? I would hope Ernie would have set the float correctly.

You will need to consult with https://www.piercemanifolds.com/product_p/k9528.htm.

Each engine is different so it will have to be jetted for yours. You can get a set of jets from Pierce to try. It sounds like you need larger jets on the primary and secondary throats. Try a 45 or 50 in the primary and a 55 in the secondary.

You do not need a flow restrictor. Take that out. The Weber will shut off the fuel flow when the float bowl is at the proper level.

You do not need the larger float valve, the smaller one works better because it seals better. The Model A does not need the high volume of fuel that the larger float valve provides.

Even though it idles well you may need a different idle jet to get the transition to the main jet working correctly. Buy some different idle jets. When you put in a different idle jet you will have to re adjust the idle screw.

You can set the float yourself. Pierce has instructions. Basically it has to be a certain level when the top part of the carburetor is turned up side down.

Good Afternoon...It seems to me that those Carbs are distributed by Sammy Guthrie at Arizona Model A. 480-782-0266. I suggest you give him a call and see what his experience has been when people share a similar problem...Ernie in Arizona

At a more local level. You might also check with Richard Anderson at Valley Brake in El Monte. He does a lot of work on members of Santa Anita As cars. I'm certain he'd have some experience on this popular upgrade.
