Has anyone used the Devilbiss Finishline FLG654 HVLP paint gun and if so what is your opinion.
I am thinking about purchasing one for painting my Vicky. I have always used the old Devilbiss MBC guns.

Is that the car that was owned by a Body Shop in Plant City? I was on my way from Ft Myers too look at it when they called and was delivering it!

The Finishline series of paint guns aint too bad, I have a couple but use them more for spraying primer than topcoat. This is just my preference, I know of a couple other painters who use a Finishline gun for topcoating. The Finishline series is 10X better than the Devilbiss "Starting Line" series- those are more comparable to an Astro or Harbor Fright brand of spray guns.

As long as you keep it clean and the seals lubed, they will last a good while, and never leave even a trace of wash out thinner in the gun after use. It will dry out the seals.

I normally use a Devilbiss GFG-670 or Sata 3000 for paint, especially when there is a metallic or pearl color I have to spray.

I use a Devilbiss JGA 502 that I have been painting cars with for 40 years.
Still works great.

I have been hobby painting cars for well over 40 years and my favorite paint spray gun has always been the Binks #18. With the increased cost of paint, about ten years ago I went with a $400 HVLP gun from Grizzley Tools. It was their best paint spray gun at that time. Two years ago, I had the opportunity to purchase a new Devilbiss Finish Line HVLP gun on sale. What a difference from my old guns! The controls are a lot easier to adjust and the gun is the simplest one I have seen yet to be cleaned after use. It reminds me of my old Binks #18 for being user friendly, only it uses less than half the paint, shoots in tight corners with full coverage and with no runs in the corners. The Finish Line HVLP has a larger paint cup than the HVLP gun that I had bought from Grizzley which is a plus. The Finish line HVLP gun is magic compared to my old guns. Anymore, I only use my Binks # 18 for shooting primers and sealers. For shooting color and top coats, I always reach for my Finish Line HVLP gun.

I've been painting cars over 25 years, and for the money it's a decent gun, 1.4 tip is good for single stage urethanes, and blows on clear excellent.
