Deluxe Delivery help

Deluxe Delivery

Senior Member
I am brand new to the forum today, but been an A guy since the 60's. I am working on a 31 Deluxe Delivery (for 15 years) and am attempting to make the inside corners from patterns I got at Hershey this year. My question concerns the dome light. The original light came with this car and is remote switched (no switch on the light). Wiring holes go from the light through the bows to the header. Does anyone know where they go from there? I cannot find any location in the original wood where the switch was located. The wooden door posts have no indention for a switch. Where does it go? Thanks

The early 31 delux delivery I'm working on has the dome light switch incorporated in the light and was mounted between the first and second bow.

The light in my late 30 delivery is round and has a switch in it.
Wouldn't it be neat to install button switches in the door jambs, like a modern car, so the light would go on when the doors were opened.

the dome light is the same as the one in the 30-31 coupe(with the switch on the light) and I rounted mine over to the right side and down the cowl post and over to the terminal box----you have to run a gound wire to the body and I think I run that over to the right and the bracket in the front if I am not mistaken. I have two delux deliverys and I think both of them have the same dome light. good luck on yours ...just finishing a 30 now.

The dome light has the switch on it and the ground wire went over to the left side and attached with a screw to the body.
The wire came up the left post and into the windshield hinge area and across to where there was an angled hole drilled thru the header to the center of the body where it goes thru the first three bows to the light. (there is a small hole drilled in each bow.)
