doing a little tinkering and thinkin... i'm building a hotter engine for my speedster. the info i have read suggests not running more than 28 degrees advance. is there any sort of degree disc, wheel or decal that can be mounted on the engine to check advance? people used to add a degreed wheel, or something to the old air cooled vw engines.

Google nurex, join model A modified forum, check out what is going on with the Burtz engine, model B distributor group, plenty of information if you search. It has all been done before!

You'll need to mark the pulley and timing cover at TDC and use a timing light while running the engine. Get a digital light with advance function or use a degree indicator (Nu-Rex sells them or there's a guy in the classifieds who makes and sells them). Find where 28° is and then fabricate a stop for the spark quadrant on the steering column to ensure you don't go past it.

NuRex timing marks.

Source for that segmented belt?

alexiskai, I will have to try and find my receipt. It has been ~5 years since I installed it along with the Murray Harmonic Balancer.

I know they sell it at Restoration Supplies but I don't think I bought it from them.
