Define speedster

I'm looking at an ad on Craigslist. It's a 1921 T. It looks like the cowl is narrowed. It's gotta homemade-looking bed. I think the thing is cool. He calls it a speedster. I picture something different for the word speedster. So, what makes a speedster?

I remember the quote; "I don't know how to define it, but I know it when I see it!"

To me a speedster has one purpose and that is to go faster with less body then original and room for only a driver and at most a passenger.

This in my opinion is a sporty pickup not a speedster.

Kurt, The bed is probably homemade but it seems to be useing origanal hardware from what I`m seeing. However the hardware isn`t too hard to duplicate. Monte

Russ Potter will loudly argue that a Speedster only has a non-Ford manufactured body. He takes the position that if it has any part of a body that Henry produced, then it does not qualify as a Speedster. Needless to say, I disagree but .....

I would too! If I built a stripped down 2 passenger lowered hoped up T, and use the cowl and windshield off a stock car that would not be a speedster? Not going to anytime soon, just having fun.

Ok, then let's step back in time and pretend we were kids in the late 20's that wanted a 'hot' car. If we bought an old Roadster and took the body & fenders off, along with the body aprons, and made a wood deck and installed 2 mother-in-law seats, and then used the remains of a 1919 cowl and hood, exactly "what" would it have been called?
