decklid rubbing?

I have a 30 coupe that i have been working of for close to two years now. Just got it back from the painter and was excited to begin assembley. When I delivered the car the decklid was installed. The painter removed it to gain access to paint both sides and all four edges. When I picked up the car the decklid was still off. When I installed it with new hinge pin bolts and open the decklid it rubbed the paint of the top edge. The painter was understanding and ground a small amount off edge, primmered the edge and suggested that I reinstall it and check the fit. Well three trips back and forth with more grinding and primmer each trip and it is still rubbing.

My fault that I didnot pay attention to this edge while the car was in primmer, but as many times as the trunk was opened and closed I think that I would have noticed the primmer being rubbed off!

As far as I can see there is no adjustment on the hinge pins? Am I missing something? Sorry haven't figured out pictures yet.

thanks

There is a small amount of hinge adjustment, loosen hinge plate screws where it mounts to body. Holes are elongated a little bit. Bill W.

With two people, (one inside the trunk) you can adjust things somewhat, if you have reproduction hinges the job is more difficult. Use making tape to protect the paint. Bob

You should be able to loosen off the pivot bolts and move the lid back and down. There is usually lots of movement on the bolts if you've got the square shim plates installed. I usually find to much movement which makes it harder to align the panel. The masking tape around the edge is a good idea to protect the paint. Make sure that you run the tape over your pant leg, sticky side down. This will take some of the stic out of the tape. This way when you take the tape off you will not put the paint off the surface under the tape. Go easy!!
