cylinder head removal

well I got my head off I was able to remove all the cylinder head studs except two in the center . I took two of my spark plugs and drove out the insides and welded a 3/8 bolt to two of the plugs and got some flat steel and then put regular bolts in the cylinder head and laid the metal on top of the bolts and pulled the head off. my home puller did the trick the head came what I found so far is the three of the exhaust valves have cracks in them and the head gasket looks to be leaking between 3 and 4 cylinder. Need to finish taking it apart and figure out what other damage their is hopefully all I will need is new valves and top end work to get the car back on the road.
thanks for everyones help.

What kind of stud puller did you use to get the other studs out with? Sometimes there's not much room to get on some, and some are short and hard to grip.
I've used a stud puller that looks like a deep socket with wedges that go into the side of it, with SOME success. Bill W.
