Cylinder Head Chisel?

On the Flathead v8 forum I learned to use Nylon wedges used for leveling cabinets. You can buy them at the hardware store. They are about 2 1/2" long,and 1 1/2" wide. You pound in about 6 spaced around the head. Just tap each one a little at a time,and keep moving around the head. They have never failed me in getting stuck heads off. You will ruin several on each job,but they are cheap.

i have used plastic wedges
they are available from your stihl dealer
its for wedging timber when using a chain saw
of course the head must have some gap in it to work
but ive found its usually the water gooseneck bolts were the ones that held my heads on tight

I always use brass wedges to remove stubborn heads. Never fails and no scratches.

Where do you find brass wedges? Or, do you have to make your own?

The ones I use I bought at a flea market many years ago. They would be easily made on a mill though.
