Cure for warped manifold?

My exhaust manifold has warped and doesn't line up with the rear exhaust port. Is there a fix for this? I'm tired of replacing gaskets.

Buy a new one ... the ceramic coated ones are slick.
I usually do the intake with it.. no resurfacing needed

If you have a case of an excessively droopy exhaust manifold then about the only fix is a new manifold.
This a common malady with these monsters. A bit of a droop usually isn't much of an issue, but, it appears yours is excessive.

I bought a new one from Snyder's and a can of their exhaust manifold paint. I've been driving it every other day since the middle of January. The paint is holding up beautifully.

Replace it with a heater manifold. All that metal on the topside prevents it from sagging.

I tried to fix the droop, made a fixture from 8" I-beam to hold it while pushing it back into shape. Burned up a 1/2 bottle of gas getting it hot, pushed it gently back with pusher bolts, cooled it slowly, still it cracked. Fixture now resides behind shop door collecting dust. When I need a good manifold, I get a new one, never been disappointed.

Terry is right about the old heater manifolds. They don't sag. But it is not usable with the manifold cooker! ;). I can't cook with my Fordor. Jeff

I have an Ottwell flat top heater :-( What a pain to get at the distributor hold down !
It cooks really good--- in the summer!

As an added aside, with the new manifolds, sometimes the intake is surfaced to much to match the new exhaust and needs to be built up. Up to a 3/16" or a1/4" layer of brazing on the intake ports can be milled to match the exhaust. Once filed 0n the outside edge and machined with the exhaust, and painted, you can't tell.

Is there only one company repoing exhaust manifolds or are there 2? i seem to think that there is the later 31 style out there that has extra reinforcement to help pevent sagging then the standard 28-E31?

The last 6 months of production had the reinforced manifolds, they were available from the vendors but not anymore, I have been fortunate to have found 2 at swap meets, one of which was a Ford casting they have a # stamped in the downpipe, the other was a re-pop with rougher casting texture, the point car owners buy them.

FWIW, the late 31's droop too.

Thats for sure! --- I found this one as I was leaving a swap meet, I had looked at 3 others that day that had other problems, this one had no pitting, however looking at it when I got it home I now know why I only paid $5.00 for it.
I suspect it had been in a garage fire, I cant believe an engine could run so retarded and lean to get that hot, Oh well its in the dump now waiting for an archeologist to figure it out.

I "thought" about a flat iron, welded to the head pipe, & extending up to a manifold stud, to prevent SAGGING.
