Cup holder- magnetic

Woodcraft Supply, has magnetic cup holders, with ceramic magnetics, that hold very well (actually strong as possible). Will even hold a ceramic mug. $4.99 ea

My question, what's the down side? Magnet on the gas tank?

Removes easy for a show or when you don't want it there.

Opinions?

Thank You; Brian

I purchased a 2 cup holder that sits on the floor and ties to the shifter. Works fine for me. I just tried looking through the suppliers catalogs and I couldn't find one. I purchased it about 3 years ago maybe they don't carry them anymore.

Would not seem like a problem on gas tank. But I am no expert. Would it also fit on the dash rail or it is to big?

Not sure I would want to trust a magnet to hold a full cup on either the gas tank or dash rail.

I got one of those 2-cup holders that are advertised in the national magazines. It bolts to the back of the dash rail using an existing mount with a longer bolt that came with it.

I purchased two of them from Snyders last fall. I bought one regular and one deluxe. The deluxe also holds the keys and wallet. Wayne

I purchased two of these at Bass Pro Shops. So far, they work fine.

I can't imagine ever wanting to drink while I drive. I think cup holders in cars are no more than a gimmick, maybe even dangerous.
I wouldn't use one, even in my modern car.

I attached a very strong magnet (lamp holder) to a fully cured painted surface and it left an impression in the paint.
