does anyone know when the two piece pulley began and ended and when the one piece started or was the going on at the same time thanks

I don't think Ford ever used a two piece crank pulley in production. That was after market.

I could be wrong. I thought I was once, but I was wrong.

Ford didn't use the two piece pully. We did a review on the various two piece pullies that were offered and found various problems with all of them. The one piece is correct in size and works very well. We recommended in the Model A Times article to use the one piece.

It is my understanding that the two piece pulley was an aftermarket item. It made it easier to remove the pulley with the engine installed in the chassis. Personally, I do not use them. They have a habit of loosening up and becoming noisey.

Just my opinion.

I put on a two piece pulley during a rebuild thinking the ease of removal was a plus. After awhile it started clacking. It just did not fit close at either the crank woodruff key or the first to second piece. Took it out and installed a repo 1 piece from Brattons, fit perfect, nice and snug, no more clacking, and how often do you have to remove just the pulley anyway?

Thanks guys doing a all over it had a two ,piece thanks all the info will make sure to get a one piece
