Crank pulley

Good morning barn folk,
Latest quiz for you guys... while refreshing our '29 Phaeton, I have noticed a machined/drilled spot on the single piece crank pulley. I took a pic and was going to attach it but I erased it somehow...typical... The mark is a bit smaller than a dime and is at the bottom of the valley and briefly touches the side walls just before the bottom. It is no more than a few sixteenths in depth, if that.
I assume it is a balancing divot but we all know what happens when we ***/u/me... While I have the radiator off, I would rather change it now than on a roadside. Any insight would be appreciated and...
Thanks as always!!

I have seen machining marks before. I suspect what you have is an aftermarket pulley. Inspect it closely in the spoke area and in the key area. If all looks good, then use it. These engines in stock form really do not turn enough RPMs for excessive concern providing they are sound in the two areas mentioned above.

I have no less than FOUR balancing divots in the rim of my aftermarket two piece pulley.

You need more challenge in your life!
