Cowl Support Rebuild

I need to replace the front cowl supports on my 31 pickup cab. Both sides are completely gone. I know that front support dips down a bit, but I don’t know how much. With the cab sitting on the wood blocks, are there any landmarks that I can measure from to know where the bottom foot needs to be positioned or should I just aim for maybe a 1/4 inch gap between the foot and frame to leave room for a rubber pad and allow some room for adjustment?

There are also rubber pads used with that wood block. The dip is just about on the frame, a thin rubber washer is used under it.
Maybe someone will post pictures if you are lucky. :)

I would have to ask how much is left of the two body sub rails and also is there anything left of the front sub rail extensions? Everything keys off of those parts. This link shows what I'm referring to. https://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/product.htm?pid=984487&cat=41653

The foundation needs to be restored to get the cab right. As far as the cowl is concerned, the Coupe and Tudor Sedans are constructed the same basic way. The cowl side panel and firewall are both attached to the sub rails and sub rail extensions. The cab sets on the blocks so there is no real contact with the frame. The frame generally has the frame welting and the running board aprons on it and the blocks rest on that.

It’s just the last few inches of the extensions that I’d like to fabricate and weld in. And I do have the rubber pads for the wood blocks, I just didn’t include them in the sketch.
