Cowl Lacing

Greetings to all, this one is directed towards Bob Bionde in regards to doing the cowl lacing on my 1929. I am unsure of how to do it and wondered if you had either a slide or video on how to install it.

my cowl lacing has no hooks, it has the 'rivets'

If you're referring to your 1929 Tudor, the lacing should be attached with rivets on the lower cowl panels and wire threaded lace on the fuel tank. Photobucket has pretty much messed up the fuel tank pictures but if you look closely the correct way to attach it and the tightener are shown.

Which kit do I need, I believe I purchased the top one. Attached are the 2 I can purchase from my vendor (Snyder's)

The only one I've had anything to do with is the lower one - correct original style if that matters. Easy installation. Note with the top one you have to drill holes in the tank lip to use for the rivets if you decide to go that way. Later today I'll try to make the Photobucket pictures in the old link above more visible for easier use by anyone in the future.

Here's some cleaned up and labelled pictures of the Photobucket ones previously linked to above. Pretty straight forward - as shown in the Snyder's listing you'll need the small threaded tightener also. Hope this helps, Have Fun!
